Accessibility Statement

The Smith for SLC School Board campaign is committed to making this website usable by everyone, including people with disabilities. Public education belongs to every family, and information about this campaign should be equally available to every voter.

Our standard

We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA. This website is partially conformant with WCAG 2.1 Level AA, meaning some content may not yet fully meet the standard. We are working to identify and fix those gaps.

What we've done

  • Written descriptive alternative text for images that convey information

  • Checked text and background color combinations for sufficient contrast

  • Structured pages with proper headings so screen readers can navigate them

  • Made sure the site can be operated with a keyboard alone

  • Written link text that makes sense out of context

  • Used plain language wherever possible

Known limitations

  • Some content is delivered through third-party tools (our donation platform, embedded social media posts, and event registration) that we do not control and cannot fully modify.

  • Some documents posted as PDFs may not be fully tagged for screen readers.

  • Video content may not yet have complete captions or audio descriptions.

If you encounter any of these barriers, contact us and we will get you the information in a format that works for you.

Getting information another way

We will provide any campaign material in an alternative format on request, at no cost. This includes large print, plain text, audio, or a phone conversation with a member of the campaign. To request materials in Spanish, contact us as well.

Enforcement

This statement applies to the campaign website. Concerns about the accessibility of the Salt Lake City School District's own website or facilities should be directed to the District directly.
